BOEING 747 CROSSWIND LANDING - 4 B747 ARRIVALS during a windy day (4K)

These Boeing 747 pilots had to deal with light crosswinds before landing on runway 14L at Cologne. After touchdown you can watch the B747-400 sliding to the left to align with the runway. The third B747 in this video is operated by National Airlines which currently operates a few flights for Fedex due to a defunct MD11F. National is a charter company which is a rare visitor at Cologne. In Germany they usually only visit Hahn and Munich on a regular basis. The other B747` s are operated by UPS which has its european base at Cologne. They arrived from Mumbai, Louisville and Dubai. You can compare the sound difference between the B747-400 and the modern B747-8. The first Jumbo is a -400 and the second a -8. You can clearly hear a difference between the classic and the modern engines. If you would like to watch UPS B747` s during daylight at Cologne you should visit the airport on sundays. Between 4pm and 8pm around 6 B747` s should arrive at UPS` European hub. The shown B747`s are Boeing 747-400`s and Boeing 747-8`s. The Boeing 747-400 is a wide-body airliner produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, an advanced variant of the initial Boeing 747. The "Advanced Series 300" was announced at the September 1984 Farnborough Airshow, targeting a 10% cost reduction with more efficient engines and 1,000 nmi (1,850 km) more range. Northwest Airlines (NWA) became the first customer with an order for 10 aircraft on October 22, 1985. The first 747-400 was rolled out on January 26, 1988, and made its maiden flight on April 29, 1988.
