In any and all of the venerated estates of the Dominate, fragrant smokes lend a sense of great and somber calm to the routines of servant and master alike. In lesser realms, one might burn herbs and rich woods in beautiful dishes and censors of noble metals, herbs roasting above oil-fired lamps, but among the oldest families of the Dominate, such trinkets are not worthy of display.
