US teen accused of killing two Wisconsin protesters | US News | NewsRme This week's jury selection for Kyle Rittenhouse, the Us teenager accused of murdering two men and wounded a third with a military-style weapon at protests in Wisconsin last year, begins. Prosecutors and defense attorneys will question prospective jurors about their political beliefs and apparent prejudices, focusing on themes like police and gun rights, which are likely to be key to the trial. Mr Findley said jury selection was critical in the Rittenhouse case due to the subjective nature of the assignment and the politicized character of the issue. In the turmoil that enveloped Kenosha, Wisconsin, on August 25, 2020, Mr Rittenhouse, 18, shot three guys and became a hero to certain conservatives who believe in unrestricted gun rights. Shortly before the protests, a white police officer shot and killed a black man named Jacob Blake. They occurred amid national racial and police brutality demonstrations last year. Prosecutors, lead by Kenosha County Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger, are expected to choose left-leaning jurors who support demonstrations but oppose armed people taking to the streets. To get a right-leaning jury, the defense will likely target gun rights supporters, law enforcement supporters, and former president Donald Trump voters.
