@whitemagus20009 months ago Wow, weird how their CFO just disappeared. I'd bet money that if this gets anywhere near Bobby, they'll throw Chapek and Christine McCarthy under the bus and blame everything on them. 16

@Hawlsey9 months ago If you notice, above "RCID Tickets" it gives the whole invoice a title: "RCID Q1 FY22 Tickets" ... this was only for the First Quarter of FY22!!! 21

@JustaGuy_Gaming9 months ago And this is just the obvious stuff Disney was too dumb to try and hide. Imagine all the times DIsney used it's power to benefit itself with public projects, like building roads, laying down Utility lines etc to it's private lands. Preventing through traffic into Disney to other area's etc. They absolutely controlled who got roads, where they went etc to always benefit Disney. ... 14

@tioraytm9 months ago The funny thing is the institutional investors in Disney will need about a month to have a legal advisor explain to them why this is bad for Disney. They are that dumb it will seriously take that long. 4

@3LBane19749 months ago Disney makes me think of the stories you hear about people bringing a bag of drugs into the police station and complaining that only 1/4 is real drugs lol. If you've done seriously illegal crap, it's not wise to bring attention to yourself. ... 4

Corporate: "its too late for that. You should have just kept your big mouth shut"
We'll see who goes to jail or not. We'll see if anyone goes to jail
Rich people may not necessarily go to jail but hitting them where it hurts most- their pockets, bank accounts & businesses can be even worse.
And for Disney definitely would be their public image for what Little is left

@alienrenders9 months ago The firm I worked at couldn't take any gifts at all even from private firms. There were tons of training sessions on this. I guess Disney was too big for compliance training lol 1

@AlexandriPatris9 months ago I'm a Federal employee and was on a trip about 10 years ago where we were meeting with a government contractor. After concluding business, we went out to lunch at Cracker Barrel and the contractor offered to pay for the meals. I don't remember how much it was, but it's almost impossible to spend more than $20 per person for a lunch there. In any event, our team lead declined just to avoid any appearances of impropriety (even though we probably would have been fine). ...

@juryrigging9 months ago Okay, so it just occurred to me that the ticket stuff likely came to light as a result of the firefighters' contract negotiation, and was therefore on the radar before the earnings call. Which meant they were already on the alert for such language before the earnings call took place. Probably doesn't make much difference, I'm just trying to work out the timeline. ... 1

@vrghr9 months ago Have worked as a government contractor for many years now, and the limitations on taking or offering ANYTHING to or from the government are extreme and severe. We weren't even allowed to offer a catered lunch to government guests for an all-day meeting, even if the meeting site was off the beaten path and required significant drive time to reach food places. What we did as alternative was send out menus from one of the local places that offered "box nasties", and had the guests order off that and pay at the door when they arrived. Then we were just "facilitating" and not actually providing the food.
Our yearly ethics reoccurring training stressed that it wasn't enough to abide by the rules, but we had to avoid even the perception of impropriety.
Offering our government folks expensive resort or concert tickets, luxury hotel stays, or similar items would have been grounds for immediate termination and even legal actions depending on the extent of the offense and the impact to our company.

@swampsagacity46859 months ago Please explain this ONE MORE TIME like I am 10 years old. I am missing something here.
If RCID was paying for the tickets, merch, etc on the invoice, how does that equate to Disney giving gifts to government employees?
If it’s just a case of RCID misusing tax dollars, what are the boundaries & limits of the types of benefits a special district can give employees using tax dollars?
    ...

@Rondy03289 months ago Why don't states audit these kinds of books on a regular basis. Be it every 5 years or whatever. It seems like these books have never been audited by the state. And, while I am asking wouldn't they have had to list where their money was coming from on federal tax forms, and I am talking about Disney. Would this not be a federal issue as well? ... 1
  • @
@darthlaurel9 months ago So they have a forensic accountant digging in the books? Is it anyone you know?
  • @
@Grrymjo9 months ago Explain this to me like I am 5.
You said that to appease disgruntled firefighters, the district instituted the stipend that covers the cost of tickets to Disney parks. So the government seems to spend the same amount of money, only now it is cash instead of natural goods like tickets. What is the difference, then? ...

@16MedicRN9 months ago My neighbor is a bartender at Universal Studios and she gets tickets every year. Is this the same thing? I think every employee gets them. ALSO, state should be humble and ask for your help! 1
  • @
@craftycri9 months ago Could Disney be laundering money through RCID re the invoice? They pay the SD taxes on top of the table which are tax exempt, and get the money back for "tickets", may or not be used, where tax is far lower after deductions? ... 1

@bartlester5919 months ago Bob Agurs ego wouldn’t let him drop the case not to mention the fact if he dropped the case, even if he did it quietly it would show up and the activists would have a shit fit and demand the Agre resign
  • @
@bilson75239 months ago You can be the largest tax payer, but if you're also routing gobs of tax money to yourself because you effectively own the government... Does it matter? Your taxes aren't doing what taxes should do: cover infrastructure costs and public services.
If this was insurance or corporate finance, we'd call it fraud.

@Jadee14379 months ago When you work there it does feel like they work for Disney. However, it very clear they don’t. It’s a district you can’t do it. They had a vendor invoice number you showed yesterday.

@skibo35229 months ago Yo Andrew, Okay, so are you intimating that perhaps the reason that the Minority of the Board for Disney went with Blackrock & Vanguard, (which has in turn set them on this suicidal course of E,S,G, 'Requirements') is most likely Graft Related?? If so, that's the FIRST plausible explanation that makes SENSE for Disney turning into a Gasoline Tanker doing 360's down an Interstate Highway!! Thanks for the Post, ~Mark~ ...

@deanatgmail9 months ago I like that you report on stuff like this because if you go to a video from wdwnt that involves anything with Disney vs Florida and look in the comments they (the people in the comments) are all like "Desantis wants to drop the case because they know Disney will win" and "Disney did nothing wrong and will win" and if you bring up any facts they (the people in the comments) say its wrong or ignore it... ...
