Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Friday flagged off the first ‘Kisan Rail’ from Agartala railway station and claimed it to be a historic day for the welfare of the farmers in the state. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the special train, Deb said that the first ‘Kisan Rail’ in the Northeast started its journey from Agartala and said that the train will reach Delhi directly from Agartala with jackfruit and pineapple. “The main goal of the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the development of the primary sector. An example of this is the Kisan Rail,” Deb said. He also said that no farmers of the state had ever thought that trains will go from here with the fruits to New Delhi, West Bengal and Guwahati at a very cheap rate. “This Kisan train of 20 coaches will reach New Delhi. Many protests were done in the past, but nothing happened earlier. But, today it was possible due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision”, Deb said. Speaking further, Deb said that he is happy to export queen pineapple and jackfruit to other states as well as in the markets of the United Kingdom. “The farmers of the state will be benefited financially and it is also a great achievement of the state government that farmers of the state are receiving Rs 6,000 per year. I believe due to COVID-19 curfew, markets are closed in many states or else more items with huge quantities would have been exported out of Tripura,” Deb said. “In future, paddy, queen pineapple, jackfruit or dragon fruit, we will export everything outside the state for which farmers would be benefited,” Deb said. Officials from the horticulture department said that a total of 13 MT of fruits including 12 MT pineapple and 1 MT jackfruit would be exported from Tripura on Friday. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on behalf of the farmers of the state,” Deb added. CM Deb was joined by the agriculture minister Pranajit Sinha Roy, West Tripura MP Pratima Bhoumik and MLA Mimi Majumder. Agriculture minister Pranajit Sinha Roy said, “I am happy to be present at the historic moment of the inauguration of Kisan Rail at Agartala Railway Station. I believe this rail is an important step towards strengthening the farmers’ economy in the state,” Singha Roy said. #EastMojo #EastStory #NorthEastIndia ***** Subscribe: /channel/UC3zMA8hCzeB8ldnFVGX1NFA ***** Visit our website: https://www.eastmojo.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/eastmojo/ Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/eastmojo Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/east.mojo *****
