Quikrete 5000 is only about $5 per 80lbs bag so the is a cost effective way to make furniture bases and there are all sorts of cool profiles and shapes that could be created. Let me know if you have ideas for this technique. For additional projects and information check out our website: http://www.homemade-modern.com/ This video is sponsored by squarespace

@PaiviProject6 years ago Hello. I think this turned out quite beautiful. The curved ends were perfect! Good call brother nate. Really liked the legs! Thanks. 13

@phunkissartisticcreations23166 years ago The vinyl baseboard was a fantastic way to follow the form of the mold, gonna keep that one handy. Thanks. 2

@sherryu6 years ago That looks surprisingly good. I was skeptical about using concrete off the legs, but i do like the end result. Nice job, ben and nate!

@EtainMcCloud6 years ago Maybe some sort of stain or paint could help those legs mesh with the table top. I too really like this technique. The bulk of the form is reusable even, . ...Expand 2

@schroederb20076 years ago Ben, what do you know aboutstabilizer) do you think it would be useful on smaller projects like this?
  • @
@jmakes37456 years ago I agree with you, the technique was really cool, and i really like the way the legs came out but personally i don' t think they match the top because: - they' re too bulky/have too much mass relative to the thin walnut
    - their angular nature doesn' t reflect the organic live edge on the walnut
    - there is too much going on, with the texture of the concrete and the colour variation in the walnut.
i think all you' d need to do is add a stretcher and use a more modern and monotone top, like maybe out of maple, pine, birch or even corian and you' d have a really cool project!

@slightlycrookedworkshop6 years ago So, coating plywood in polycrylic allows you to use it for a concrete mold? I guess i found a new use for scrap plywood.

@TheJunkyardgenius6 years ago Quickcrete 50 ain' t available in the uk, anyone know of an alternative available here in the uk? Love these projects. Want to make some myself.

@simonh736 years ago Buy some super plastisizer to make the mix self compacting. You can get rid of all the scooping it in and vibration so much and just pour into the mold, maybe a quick tap and walk away.

@sylvainbosse13446 years ago Like the result. But these concrete molds create a lot of wasted material. Is there a moreway to build such molds? 2
  • @
@rakeshbhansali49076 years ago You did not put any coating on the concrete legs?
  • @
@DinoEsculturas6 years ago You could make the effort to create reusable concrete molds, to make multiples pieces. It' s a shame that they have to be destroyed after one use.

@julianberger2346 years ago Where can i get that speed square in metric.
