From probably one of the biggest shutdowns in WMATA history to date, In the spring and summer months of 2019, DASH took on the opportunity to operate the Metro Blue Line-Shuttle from Reagan National Airport to the Franconia-Springfield Metro Stations and vice-versa. Portions of the yellow line was also shutdown from Reagan to Huntington Metro Stations, various coach buses & Metro operated the Yellow Shuttle. This short but sweet video features various clips from the Blue Line Shuttle operated by DASH Alexandria Transit Company showcasing the various equipment used by DASH to make the shuttle productive, smooth and reliable for as many as possible. I honestly have to say, it was a huge success as well and very organized. Equipment used (some shown, some not): Ex- Bee-Line Of Westchester New York, 2001-02 Neoplan AN460s (DDS60/Allison) 14 Originally, Buses were wrapped for shuttle services, DASH Kept 6 to retain for regular revenue service throughout the city of Alexandria, Units 601-614 (601, 602, 603, 612, 613, 614 were kept). Ex- PRTC Omniride of Woodbridge Virginia 2002 MCI D4500 Commuter Coaches (DDS60/Allison) 6-8? Originally, only 2 ended up being used for the shuttle in their original PRTC scheme later would be wrapped for DASH. 3 Have been kept mainly for School runs and charters. Units 325, 328 & 336 (former omniride numbers). Renumbered to 703, 704 & 705 and then again to 103, 104 &105 due to the upcoming order of 2020 New Flyer XD40s. Ex- PRTC Omniride of Woodbridge Virginia 2005 Gillig Phantom 40ft Suburbans (Cummins ISL/Allison) 2 Buses obtained, wrapped for the shuttle prior. Both of these buses are still on the active current fleet roster at DASH used mainly on the AT2X Express and AT6. Units 185 & 187 (former omniride numbers) Renumbered to 701 & 702, then again to 101 and 101 due to the upcoming order of 2020 New Flyer XD40s. DASH 2002-2007 Orion V's Unit #'s 68-99 (Cummins ISM/Voith), Some of these buses have since been retired from the active fleet since the shuttle ended. DASH 2007 Gillig Phantom 35ft Unit #'s 101-103 (Cummins ISM/Allison), All of these buses have since been retired from the active fleet since the shuttle ended. DASH 2010-2018 Gillig Hybrids & Diesels Both 35ft (Diesels/Hybrids, Diesel #'s 501-514, Hybrid #'s 200-233) and 40ft (Hybrids, units 300-311). DASH 2019 New Flyer XD35, Unit #'s 515-527.
